“Lessons from Ferguson” and Responding to Cuomo on the BUS

New York and New Jersey Activism

Rosalie Friend of Save Our Schools planned to report on the response to Governor Cuomo’s assault on public education:

6087165A range of groups are working together. There are letter writing campaigns, billboards, trips to Albany, and Moral Monday rallies. [ Campaign details here.] NY State Allies for Public Education initiated a Protect Our Schools action in which people hold hands to surround their school building, and the teachers union, parent groups and other organizations are joining this action on March 12 in the city and March 26 outside NYC [see flyer at right].

NYSAPE is a coalition of 50 activist groups from around the state including Save Our Schools. The Alliance for Quality Education is joining this action. The NYC teachers’ union is also encouraging members to hold hands to protect our schools.
